FLIP Kit Return Policy Update from Fred Schumacker

Hello all.

This is just a reminder that you should check each returned FLIP Kit to ensure that the book belonging to it is returned in good condition.  The book is considered the essential component of the FLIP Kit, and customers who do not return the book or who return it damaged should be assessed the replacement cost recorded in the Millennium system.  Please remember to check each returned FLIP Kit to make sure it includes the book before checking the item in.  If/when you need to charge a customer for a FLIP Kit book’s replacement, be sure you contact the customer with the information and note the conversation in the customer record.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Circulation Administration Department (832-393-2222 – option 3) or your local LA Supervisor for assistance.

Thanks.
Fred Schumacher

Hello Everyone,
I am posting this informationn in an effort to keep everyone abreast of the changes in Saturday coverage in lieu of Kiera’s promotion.

Beginning September 1, 2012 Debra Davis will work every other Saturday until 9/29. Starting October 1, 2012 Jacquina Sowell Spikes will work every other Saturday until January 5, 2013.

If we do not have a new staff member by November 2012, Arit will begin working on December 1st every other Saturday effective 12/15 and Kenneth will begin working on December 8, 2012 until the SCE staff shortage is resolved.

Best Regards,
Maurina

Staff Shelf Reading Assignments

Hello Everyone,

Please, make note of the new shelf-reading assignments for the staff. Everyone will be expected to complete shelf-reading for their area at least three times a week and everyone will also be responsible for “facing” their area.

You will also be considered the back-up for shelving that section if the person that regularly shelves that section is not here.

The Shelf-Reading Assignments are as follows:

JS - All YA bks. and Juv. Paperbacks

      Shelf 1-A/B and 2-A/B

DD - All Board Books

         Shelf 4-A/B AND 5-A/B

FS - Picture Books (A-L)

        Shelf 3-A/B and 6-A/B

AE - Picture Books (M-Z)

         10-A/B and 11-A/B

MP - All Adult Paperbacks

          7-A/B, 8-A/B, 9-A/B

MK - Adult Fiction (M-Z)

          12-A/B and 13-A/B

HK - Adult Fiction (A-L)

         15-A/B and 16-A/B

MJ - All Classics, Large Prints bks.

         Testing Guides

Remember shelf-reading and shelving are different. SCE’s part-timers will still shelve books but we will all shelf-read on a regular basis.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter,
Maurina
